I noticed recently that pom poms are everywhere! The no longer have a season, they are an all the time accessory, So, to Follow up from last week’s DIY, I wanted to show something that you could do with pom poms once you get the hang of/ enjoy making them. Pom Pom Earrings! Dazzle up your ears and add some pom pom flair, I know that I have pom poms on all the time. All you need is a few items that you can get at a local craft store and you are ready to go!

If you do not know how to already make a pom pom, head over to the DIY Pom Pom post and follow the steps. Know that for these earrings you will want to create a dense pom pom as opposed to a fluffy one. You will create 2 pom poms that look identical and the steps will follow from there. After you create your pom poms make sure to not cut the string that ties the pom pom together. That will help you know where the center of the pom pom is.

Supplies:

Step One: Start by cutting a piece of chain, counting 10 chain pieces about 1 ¼ inch using the wire cutters. Make sure to cut two identical pieces of silver chain.

Step Two: Next, I find it best to set up the earring before attaching it to the pom pom that way it is easier to connect. Using the nose pliers, attach a jump ring to the top of the chain and attach the earring hook to the jump ring. Close the ring with the pliers, making sure it is tight and close together and will not open. Attach a jump ring to the bottom but don’t close it.

Step Three: Now, using the center string as a guide, separate the pom pom and find the center. Attach the open jump ring to the center string wrapped around the pom pom. That way the earring is perfectly connected. Close the jump ring using nose pliers and make sure it is tightly closed.

Step Four: Now this is where you become perfectionist as you will start trimming the pom pom. Start by trimming one of the pom poms and trim it until you feel content with the size and density. You need to create two identical pom poms for the earrings so trim regularly until you have a semi perfect (nothing is really ever perfect) circle and the pom poms look similar when they are next to one another.

That is that, all you need to make pom pom earrings. You can start to add different colors, textures and patterns to your pom pom earrings. Wear them to work, to a party, on a first date, wherever you please, I promise you will get compliments by everyone you see.
